This is your opportunity to represent Canada and compete against the best sport martial arts competitors in the world.

In order to compete at the WKC World Karate Championships, competitors must qualify at a regional event. You are then eligible to compete at the Canadian Championships. If you place in the top four at the Canadians you will represent Canada at the World Championships in the fall.

These events are open to all competitors regardless of style, school or affiliation.

Team Canada Rules for All Athletes

Athletes who make Team Canada will be required to comply with the following rules. Failure to comply will disqualify you from competing at Worlds.

1) ALL competitors must purchase the current Team Kit - uniform, jacket, etc. NO exceptions!

2) ALL competitors must stay at the designated WKC tournament hotel at the World Championship. No exceptions!

3) ALL coaches must have an official WKC Coach jacket in order to be able to coach their students at Worlds. Jackets will be available for purchase at Nationals.

4) ALL athletes must confirm their spot by the deadline or they will automatically forfeit their spot and the 1st place alternate will be called up.

There is no weight allowance. Competitors who qualify at a certain weight cannot move up a weight category at the World Championships. Each country is limited to 4 competitors per division.
Cost:$80 per event for the first 3 and $50 per event thereafter.

Format of Canadian Championships:All competition consists of TWO rounds.
Start Times:Continuous Sparring: Friday - 8:00 am -10:00 am Training/ selection camp.
Kata and Weapons: Round 1 on Friday, Round 2 on Saturday
Friday 10:00 am: all Team Kata – 1 round only
Friday 11:00 am: all -9yrs, 10-11yrs, 12-13yrs and 14-15yrs.
3:00 pm:16-17yrs, All adults
Saturday 9:00 am: all -9yrs, 10-11yrs, 12-13yrs and 14-15yrs.
1:00 pm: all 16-17yrs and all adults
Point Sparring: round 1 on Saturday, round 2 on Sunday Saturday 4:00 pm: all -9yrs, 10-11yrs, 12-13yrs and 14-15yrs.
6:00 pm: 16-17yrs and all adults
Sunday 9:00 am: all -10yrs, 11-12yrs, 13-14yrs,
11:30 am: 15-17yrs and all adults.
